THE BALANCED FOOD DIARIES

Being a lover of all things food it will come as no surprise that one of my favourite types of videos to watch on YouTube are ‘What I Eat In a Days.’ However, I do have one problem with these videos. 9 times out of 10, the YouTubers that I come across who film these are typically following some sort of diet i.e. veganism and/or extreme ‘clean’ eating. If, like me, you’re not following either of these diets and are simply looking for a more realistic version of these food diaries then look no further than Anna Saccone and Melanie Murphy.

WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY | 25/5/16

I thought it would be interesting to share with you what I typically eat on a college day. Despite it turning out that I was only in college for all of two minutes, I still ate what I would have even if I was in college all day. I usually bring my own packed lunch since I’m a cheapskate and as much as I love a good Boots meal deal, I’d much rather save my money for something else.

BREAKFAST

PORRIDGE WITH APPLE, CHOC SHOT & CHIA SEEDS

I unintentionally had the same breakfast as I did last week. It tastes so good though! Still making my way through the chia seeds. One sachet is a serving but I only take a small amount each time since there are literally hundreds and I don’t fancy having more seeds than porridge! A good breakfast for a day at college – or in today’s case, for a few minutes in college.

WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY |18/5/16

I thought this day would be perfect to share what I ate since it was the day that I went to see Busted! My 8-year-old self was dying inside. Since I would be having dinner out I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show you my definition of a balanced diet.

BREAKFAST

PORRIDGE WITH APPLE, CHOC SHOT & CHIA SEEDS

Kick starting the day with a healthy & nutritious breakfast. I was going to be needing the energy for the day. Let us also take note of the AMAZING presentation skills showcased. Porridge made with soya milk and topped with an apple, choc shot by Sweet Freedom and chia seeds along with my usual coffee.

WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY | 11/5/16

I was going to start this post off by saying that ‘today was a very chilled day,’ when in fact it was far from it. My main priority on this sunny Tuesday was to rehearse my Graded Unit pitch which I am due to present on the day this is posted – I always write these up on the same day I take the pictures – so, as you are reading this I am likely in a melted puddle of relief that it is over. Since the next day was so important, I wanted to ensure that today was a day filled with plenty of nutritious food.

BREAKFAST

PORRIDGE WITH BANANA, CHOC SHOT & CHIA SEEDS

My Sourced Box had arrived the day before, so naturally today was the day I wanted to dive straight into the new snacks. This month they included a little sachet of chia seeds so I decided to add them to my porridge for an extra boost of nutrition. They’re a great thing to add to your favourite foods as they don’t alter the taste but give that extra health kick. It may not look appetising, but it was delicious!

May is known for being the most stressful month for students. Exams, final assessments and coming towards the end of an academic year. Definitely not the funnest time of year. It’s important to eat the right foods in order to help your concentration, but there are also foods that can help bust your stress levels. Here are 5 foods that you should try and incorporate into your diet during this time of year.

WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY | 4/5/16

Last week I said the next WIAW would be one where I had something different for lunch. I can confirm that I have succeeded in doing so! Today was another lazy day with no real plans. A bit of college work and uploading my new video were the primary tasks of today alongside eating a lot of delicious food.

BREAKFAST

BLUEBERRY & ALMOND GRANOLA WITH BLUEBERRIES

Mixing it up yet again for breakfast. Last week I took a trip into TKMaxx for a browse and found this granola. I actually really love granola but I don’t have it that often, but when I saw the flavour of it I just couldn’t resist trying it! What’s great about Viki’s granola is that it is naturally sweetened with honey so unlike a lot of supermarket bought granolas, only contains natural sugars. With some extra blueberries & soy milk, the perfect breakfast combo was born.

FOODIE FAVES | APRIL ’16

Every month brings a whole host of delicious food so I’m starting a new series on DelishEllie. Much like the classic monthly favourite videos on YouTube, every month – or more or less every month – I will be sharing some of my favourite eats. I will also try my best to include a link to where you can buy the products yourself.

So, without further ado, here are April’s foodie faves.

MERIDIAN COCONUT & PEANUT BUTTER

I featured this beauty in my April favourites video. If you love coconut and peanut butter then you HAVE to try this! It’s a winning combo and unlike some coconut flavoured things, you can really taste the coconut. It’s also full of healthy fats! What more could you want? I love spreading this on rice cakes for a snack or topping my porridge with it.
