I recently started a new part time job at Sainsbury’s and with this means that I need to bring some food with me. I work 6pm-10pm which is a bit of an awkward time as I usually have my dinner around 6ish. Due to this change in my ‘eating schedule,’ I thought I would show you what my food looks like on a typical working day.
WEETABIX WITH BANANA, CINNAMON & AGAVE NECTAR
This combo has become one of my favourites recently! Sweet and delicious. My favourite way to have Weetabix is to pour just enough soy milk over it so that it soaks up but still leaves a bit of a crunch. And of course you also have to make sure you get a bit of all the ingredients on top! Back when I first started eating Weetabix I used to put loads of sugar on it. It’s always better to try and use natural sugars which is why I always use banana and either honey or agave nectar. The sugars are all natural and so haven’t lost any of their goodness.
Coffee is also a staple.
MOZZARELLA & AUBERGINE BAKE, RICE & VEG
If possible, I try to have my main meal at lunchtime on the evenings I’m working. This just means that the food I do take with me for dinner is a lot more easier to bring with me and I don’t need to stress about needing a microwave or whatever. It was my first time trying these mozzarella & aubergine bakes and they were pretty good. I can be quite picky when it comes to cheese but I really enjoyed it! Along with some rice & a portion of veg, this was definitely satisfying.
BANOFFEE PIE GRAZE PUNNET
Despite being subscribed to Graze [see bottom of page to get your hands on a free box] for over three years now there are still a couple of their snack punnets that I haven’t tried yet. This ‘banoffee pie’ one is a prime example. Banana coins, pecans, vanilla fudge pieces & mini vanilla marshmallows – delicious! I’m always in need of something sweet after my main meal and this hit the spot. I also had another coffee a bit later on.

CARROTS WITH SWEET CHILLI HOUMOUS
Before my four hour shift commences, I’ll sit up in the staff canteen eating a slightly early dinner. There is no way I am working around food on an empty stomach. I may not be overly hungry before I start but I know that I’ll get halfway into my shift and my stomach will undoubtedly be rumbling away. Today there was sweet chilli galore! I had a sandwich with sweet chilli turkey and a bit of sweet chilli houmous and then I also had carrot sticks with more of the sweet chilli houmous to dip.

After I finish at 10 I then have to make an hour commute home. I always like to make sure I have a snack on hand for when I finish just in case. I say ‘just in case’ when really if I have a snack with me, I’m gonna eat it!! These carrot cake nakd. bars are heavenly. I hate how they’re limited edition because they’re one of the best flavours!
There was a time when being out and about would give me the perfect excuse to restrict. As you can see, this is no longer the case. If anything, I’m needing even more food to fuel me through work!
