Firstly I want to apologise for the lack of posts this past month. I’ve been so caught up with uni that any free time I’ve had to focus on my blog and YouTube I’ve been putting it solely on YouTube. Now that my classes have finished though and all that’s left is to study for my one exam, I’m going to make sure that my blog is back on its A-game.
So, I thought that my first post in this comeback should be a little what I eat in a day post. But this isn’t just your average food diary. I’ve just returned from a trip down south visiting my Grandad with my sister where we also spent a day in London. I thought it would be interesting to share with you guys what I ate while I was there.
PORRIDGE WITH DRIED FRUIT, PUMPKIN SEEDS & HONEY
I had this same breakfast every morning I while I was away. I brought my own little porridge sachets with me and my Grandad kindly bought me soya milk. My Grandad is also a lover of porridge so I used some of the dried fruit and pumpkin seeds that he uses to top his. After raiding the cupboards looking for mugs and bowls I discovered he also had honey so topped my breakfast off with that too. Me & my sister made it routine to watch the previous nights episode of EastEnders on my mini laptop while eating and drinking our coffee/tea.
CREAMY COFFEE SMOOTHIE
I’ve been following Deliciously Ella for over a year now, probably almost two years, and am a huge fan of her recipes and her energy balls. So, naturally when in London I HAD to take a trip to The MaE Deli. I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much money on my lunch! It may have been pricey but it was definitely worth it. Especially since the portions of the Mae Bowls are pretty big. I was so full afterwards but still managed to squeeze in one of their smoothies. I have no idea if I’m going to get the chance to go back so I wanted to make the most of it! In my MaE Bowl I had olive & sundried tomato quinoa, roasted sweet potato with coriander tahini, grilled veg with sorrel pesto and butterbean & cauliflower falafel. My favourites were the grilled veg and the falafel! I can’t remember exactly what was in the smoothie other than there was coffee and almond butter but it was divine. If I ever go back I’m going to try the nutty chocolate smoothie because that sounded amazing too. It’s a good job I don’t live in London otherwise I’d end up spending a fortune in there on a regular basis! If you’re into healthy eating then definitely check one of the two deli’s out.
I also bought Ella’s two new flavours of energy balls but have yet to try them!
CINNAMON WAFFLE CRUNCH
Since we weren’t getting back until later, we decided to get dinner out. After much deliberation we decided on Frankie & Benny’s. Always a firm favourite. I decided to go for something a bit different and had the veggie burger which was served with chips and coleslaw. I devoured the lot!
For dessert I had the cinnamon waffle crunch which is one of my all-time favourites but it had been so long since I last had it. I usually go for the apple pie since apple pie is my favourite dessert but since we were choosing from a set menu the options were limited and it wasn’t on it. It was a blessing in disguise since I had forgotten how much I love this!
When we got home we also ate leftover pizza from the previous night. If you can’t eat all of the delicious food when on holiday, when can you?
